Our Story

Raven Reads was founded in 2017. Located in Kamloops, BC Canada we are 100% Indigenous and woman owned. We respectfully help customers around the world to bring authentic Indigenous books and giftware into their home.

A word from our founder

Raven Reads was founded on the premise of raising awareness of our collective histories, lived experiences and supporting Indigenous authors and entrepreneurs. We are 100% Indigenous owned and woman owned. By simply subscribing to our box you are having a tremendous impact. Since our inception, we have invested over $600,000 CAD into other Indigenous and Native American businesses and authors across Canada and the US.

Your purchase helps amplify Indigenous voices and brands and helps Indigenous and Native American entrepreneurs and authors take a stronger position in the economy and to grow healthier communities....

A call for action

In 2015, shortly after the TRC released its final report, Raven Reads founder Nicole McLaren started a book club. The book club was a gathering place to not only share incredible books but to open a dialogue as well. To bring this experience to a wider audience, Raven Reads was born.

It has been designed as a safe space for you to learn about other cultures, about history and to discover beautifully crafted products made by Indigenous entrepreneurs from around the globe.
